Next Objective: Homefront

No veteran or surviving spouse should be left behind at home. Next Objective: Homefront is a community support program of The Veterans Phalanx focused on reaching older veterans, shut-in veterans, disabled veterans, and surviving spouses who may be isolated, overlooked, or in need of connection and practical support.

Overview

Program Snapshot

For many in this stage of life, the greatest challenge is not always a single crisis. Sometimes it is isolation. Sometimes it is limited mobility. Sometimes it is the simple reality of feeling forgotten. Homefront exists to make sure those members of our community are still seen, still valued, and still connected.

This program is built on a simple idea: service to veterans should not stop at the doorstep.

This is not about grand gestures. It is about showing up, paying attention, and making sure no one is left to feel invisible.

Purpose

Isolation can quietly affect quality of life, dignity, and well-being. Homefront exists to bring steady, human presence into places where connection may be limited and where the needs of veterans and surviving spouses might otherwise go unseen.

Who It Serves

Next Objective: Homefront is designed for older veterans, shut-in veterans, disabled veterans, and surviving spouses who may benefit from greater connection, support, and community presence. It also serves senior living communities, assisted living facilities, and local partners who want to help ensure that veteran residents and surviving spouses remain connected and cared for.

Focus Areas

  • Regular check-ins and visits
  • Connection and companionship
  • Identifying practical needs and helpful resources
  • Small acts of support that reduce isolation
  • Building relationships with those who may no longer be able to get out and engage easily on their own

Measures of Success

  • Loneliness and isolation are reduced through regular human connection.
  • Veterans and surviving spouses feel remembered, valued, and part of the community.
  • Needs that might otherwise go unseen are identified through steady presence and relationship-building.

Participation

Through Next Objective: Homefront, The Veterans Phalanx works to identify and connect with older, disabled, or isolated veterans and surviving spouses in homes, senior living communities, and assisted living settings. The goal is simple: to make sure people who have served, or stood beside those who served, are not forgotten.
